Alright, so I got this addi king size knitting machine. I’ve seen a bunch of folks online making cool stuff with it, so I thought, why not give it a shot? First off, I had to figure out how to even get the yarn on this thing. It’s called “casting on,” and honestly, it took me a few tries to get it right. I watched some videos online, and they made it look so easy! But let me tell you, it’s a bit tricky at first. You gotta make sure the yarn catches on those little needles just right.
Once I finally got the hang of casting on, I started cranking away. And this thing is fast! I mean, you can make a hat in like an hour, no joke. But you can’t just use any old yarn. I learned that the hard way. I tried using some super bulky yarn I had lying around, and it just kept getting jammed. Turns out, you need to use a yarn that’s the right weight for this machine. Most people say worsted weight (Size 4) is the best. Also this machine is pretty sturdy, and doesn’t feel like it’s going to break if I crank a little too hard.
Now, I’m no expert, but I’ve managed to make a few things.
- Hats: These are super easy and quick to make. Perfect for beginners like me.
- Headbands: Same with hats.
- Flowers: I even tried making some little flowers to add to my hats. They turned out pretty cute, I think!
What did I do?
I watched a bunch of tutorial videos, messed up a few times, and finally got the hang of it. I mostly just experimented, trying different yarns and seeing what worked. It was a lot of trial and error, but that’s how you learn, right? I even bought an addiExpress King size Extended Edition because my friend told me it is worth to have one, which allows me to make larger projects.
I’m still learning, but I’m having a blast with this thing. It’s so satisfying to see a pile of yarn turn into something you can actually wear. And if you’re thinking about getting one of these machines, I say go for it! Just be prepared for a bit of a learning curve, and don’t be afraid to experiment.
