Well, lemme tell ya about this here 22 pin addi knitting machine. I got one of these contraptions a while back, and it’s somethin’ else. Now, I ain’t no fancy knitter, never have been. But this thing, it makes it so easy, even an old gal like me can do it.
First off, you gotta get yourself some yarn. And it can’t just be any old yarn. It can’t be too thick. Some of them big yarns, they just won’t fit in this machine. I tried, and it was a mess. You gotta pick the right one, ya know? Not too skinny, not too fat, just right.
Getting Started with the Addi
This here addi knitting machine, it’s got these little pins, 22 of ’em. You just hook your yarn on ’em, and then you start crankin’. That’s right, you just turn that handle round and round. And what do ya know? It starts knittin’ for ya! It’s like magic, I tell ya.
Now, they say there’s these things called tutorials. I reckon that’s just a fancy word for showin’ ya how to do somethin’. They got ’em for this addi machine. If you’re just startin’ out, might be a good idea to watch one of them. They show ya how to get that yarn on there, how to start it up, all that stuff.
They call it “castin’ on”. Sounds kinda like fishin’, don’t it? But it ain’t. It’s just how you get that yarn on them little pins to start with. Once you get that down, you’re good to go. Just keep on crankin’.
What Can You Make?
You can make all sorts of things with this 22 pin addi knitting machine. I seen folks make hats, scarves, even socks! Yep, socks. Now, I ain’t tried socks yet. Seems a little tricky, but I reckon I’ll get around to it one of these days.
- Hats
- Scarves
- Socks
- Little blankets maybe
It’s good for them smaller things. This ain’t the machine you gonna use to make a big old blanket for your bed. It’s just too little for that. I heard they got bigger ones, the addi king sized machine, 46 pins they got. That one, maybe you could make a blanket. But this little 22 pin one, it’s perfect for hats and scarves and such.
I usually make things for my grandkids. They love gettin’ a new hat or scarf. And it don’t take me near as long as it used to when I was knittin’ by hand. My hands ain’t what they used to be, ya know. Arthritis and all that. This machine, it does all the hard work for me.
Easy Peasy, Just Crank and Go
This addi knitting machine, it ain’t got no complicated instructions. You don’t need to be no expert to use it. Just crank that handle and watch it go. It’s kinda fun, actually. Like I said, it’s like magic. You’re just turnin’ that handle, and out comes a knitted piece.
And it feels strong, ya know? Not like some of them cheap things you get these days that break after just a couple uses. This one, it feels solid. Like it’s gonna last a good long while. That’s important, ya know. You don’t want to be wastin’ your money on somethin’ that ain’t gonna last. I do 300 or 400 cranks for adult hats. That’s what I heard from others, and it works.
You can knit in circles, round and round, or you can knit flat pieces. Just depends on what you’re makin’. I mostly just do the circles. Makes it easier, I think. For a hat, you just keep goin’ round and round ’til it’s long enough, then you take it off the machine and cinch up the top. Easy as pie.
Is the Addi Machine Worth It?
Now, some folks might say these addi knitting machines are a little pricey. And I reckon they are, compared to just buyin’ some yarn and needles. But for me, it’s worth it. Saves my hands a lot of pain. And it’s faster, too. I can whip up a hat in no time at all.
So, if you’re thinkin’ about gettin’ one of these 22 pin addi knitting machines, I say go for it. Just make sure you get the right yarn, and maybe watch one of them tutorials to get the hang of it. You’ll be crankin’ out hats and scarves in no time. It’s a good time, and you get somethin’ nice to show for it. What else could an old gal ask for?
Just remember what old grandma says, choose your yarn wisely and keep that crank a-turnin! You will have a good time with your addi knitting machine!
