Alright, so I’ve been messing around with this Addi Express Kingsize knitting machine lately, and let me tell you, it’s been a bit of a ride. I saw some patterns online and thought, “Hey, why not give this a try?” So, I ordered one of these bad boys and got to work.
First off, I tried to follow a pattern for some flowers. The instructions said it would be quick and easy, so I was pretty optimistic. I started cranking that handle, feeding the yarn through, and watching the stitches form. It was kind of mesmerizing, to be honest. I started with some basic yarn I had lying around, just to get a feel for the machine.
- I cranked the handle slowly at first, making sure the yarn was feeding in correctly.
- Then I picked up the pace a bit, getting into a rhythm.
- After a few rounds, I started to see the flower shape taking form.
It wasn’t perfect, but I managed to make a few decent-looking flowers. I think with a little more practice, I can get these looking really good. I used some chunky yarn at first cause the bigger needles are easy to learn.
Next up, I decided to tackle a bigger project. I found a pattern collection online – it had like 30 different patterns, ranging from beginner to intermediate. I figured I’d start with something simple, like a scarf or something. It is said that making gloves is easy using this machine, but I don’t really want to do that now.
Trying out Different Yarns
For the bigger projects, I did a bit of experimenting with different yarns. I tried some standard yarns, some chunky yarns and they all worked pretty well. I realized that I should make between 300-400 rows on my Addi 46 for adults.
Overall, it’s been a fun little project. There’s definitely a learning curve with this thing, but it’s not too bad. I’m excited to keep experimenting and see what else I can make. Maybe I’ll even try one of those intermediate patterns soon. Who knows, maybe I’ll become a knitting machine pro! ud83eudd17
