Now, I ain’t no expert. But I been around the block a few times. I seen a thing or two. And I learned a few tricks with these knitting machines. You can make all sorts of things. Scarves, long as your arm. Cowls, to keep your neck warm. Even socks, though those are a bit trickier. Gotta pay attention, you do.
- Hats, lots of hats. Plain ones, striped ones, even ones with little pom-poms on top.

You wanna add pictures? That’s what I said, pictures. Little pictures, right there in your knitting. Hearts, stars, whatever you like. It ain’t as hard as you might think. I use a Sentro. Circular knitting machine, it is good to make designs, round and round, overall designs, real good. But if you want those little, tiny, fancy patterns, maybe not so good. And you gotta watch how much yarn you use. These machines, they eat up yarn like it’s goin’ out of style. Faster than you can say “bobbin.”
More Than Just Plain Knitting
You can do ribbing, too. That’s when you knit one, then purl one. Makes it stretchy. Good for the bottom of hats, or the cuffs of socks. Or you can do a seed stitch. That’s when you knit one, purl one, then on the next row, you do the opposite. Purl one, knit one. Makes a nice texture. There are many more patterns like that.
If you want make the thing not too tight, not too loose. Just right. You can find all sorts of circular knitting machine patterns. Some are free, some you gotta pay for. But they tell you how many stitches, what kind of yarn, everything you need to know. Like a recipe, but for knitting.
Use Your Knitting Machine to Make Toys
And you know what else is fun? Makin’ toys. Little animals, dolls, things like that. You can stuff ’em with cotton, make ’em nice and cuddly. Kids love ’em. And they’re a lot cheaper than buyin’ ’em at the store. Plus, you made it yourself. That’s somethin’ special.
I remember one time, I made a whole bunch of little bears. Brown ones, white ones, even a pink one. Took ’em to the church bazaar. Sold every last one. Made enough money to buy a new set of needles. And some more yarn, of course. Can never have too much yarn. You can try make some toys, there must be some circular knitting machine patterns about that.

So, if you got yourself a circular knitting machine, don’t just stick to hats. Branch out. Try somethin’ new. There’s a whole world of patterns out there, just waitin’ for you to discover ’em.
You might surprise yourself. Might even make somethin’ you’re really proud of. And if an old lady like me can figure it out, you can too. Trust me. I ain’t the sharpest tool in the shed, but I get by. And my knitting? Well, it ain’t half bad, if I do say so myself. If you have time, try make some toys for kids. Toys made by yourself, that’s real love, real love. They would love it.
