Okay, so I gotta tell you about this knitting machine I got my hands on – the Addi King Knitting Machine. See, I’ve always been kinda crafty, you know? Love making stuff with my hands, but knitting the old-fashioned way with needles? Man, that’s a slow boat to China.
So, I’m browsing around, looking for a way to speed things up, and bam! I stumble upon this Addi King thing. It’s a circular knitting machine, which is a fancy way of saying it knits in a circle, like for hats or scarves. This one’s got 46 needles, so it can handle some pretty decent-sized projects. And they told me that it can also knit flat panels. They said I can use any type of yarn with this machine. And I decided to give it a try.
I’m not gonna lie, I was a bit intimidated at first. It looked kinda complicated with all those needles and gears. But I watched a couple of videos, read the instructions a few times, and figured, what the heck, let’s give it a shot.
Getting the yarn on there was a little tricky. I Started by threading the yarn and turning the crank slowly. You gotta make sure the yarn catches on each needle, and sometimes it takes a few tries. But once I got the hang of it, it wasn’t too bad. And then, you just start cranking! The machine does all the work, knitting the yarn into a tube or a flat piece, depending on what you’re making.
- First, I tried making a simple tube. Cranked that handle, and whoosh! It knitted up super fast. I couldn’t believe how quickly it went. In like, minutes, I had a whole tube of knitted fabric.
- Then, I got a little braver and tried a flat panel. You gotta switch a little lever thingy to go back and forth instead of in a circle. It was a little more complicated.
- I messed up a few times, dropped some stitches, had to redo a few rows. But hey, that’s part of learning, right?
And I have to say this Addi knitting machine compared to other knitting machines, this one is sturdier. It felt solid, like it could handle a lot of use. I’ve heard some other machines can be kinda flimsy, but this one seemed pretty tough. I also liked that it came with a row counter. That’s a lifesaver because let’s be real, who wants to count every single row by hand? And I saw on the internet that other machines’ row counters became faulty very fast.
The Results
After a bit of practice, I managed to make a few things – a hat, a scarf, even a little blanket for my cat. He seems to like it, anyway. It’s not perfect, mind you. I’m still learning. But it’s pretty darn good for a beginner, if I do say so myself.
This Addi King Knitting Machine, it’s a game-changer. It lets me knit stuff way faster than I ever could by hand. It’s not gonna replace hand knitting entirely for me. There’s something special about that, you know? But for bigger projects or when I’m in a hurry, this machine is my new best friend. If you’re into knitting and you’re looking for a way to speed things up, I definitely recommend giving this thing a try. It’s a blast!
