Today, I messed around with that Addi Express knitting machine. I’ve seen some folks online making all sorts of things with it, so I figured I’d give it a whirl myself. First off, I grabbed the machine and all the bits and bobs that came with it.
I started by setting it up on my table. It’s not too big, which is nice. Then I found a ball of yarn – just some regular stuff I had lying around – and got to threading it through the machine. It took a couple of tries to get the hang of it, but once I did, it was smooth sailing.

Next, I started cranking the handle. Round and round it went, and before I knew it, I had a tube of knitted fabric going. It was actually pretty cool to watch it come together so fast. I kept going until I had a decent length, then I practiced taking the fabric off the machine. That was a little tricky, but I got it after a few attempts.

I experimented with making a couple of different things. First, I made a simple tube, just to get used to the machine. Then I tried making a longer piece, which I thought could be a scarf or something. I even tried switching yarn colors, which was a bit of a pain, but I managed to do it without too much trouble.

Finally, I spent some time just playing around with the machine, seeing what else I could do with it. I tried making a wider tube and a tighter knit. I think with some more practice, I could make some pretty neat stuff with this thing. It’s definitely a fun little gadget to have around, especially if you’re into making things with yarn.
Overall, it was a successful first day with the Addi Express. I learned a lot, and I’m excited to see what else I can create with it in the future!
