Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with this Addi Express King Size knitting machine lately, and let me tell you, it’s pretty cool! I mean, I’ve always liked the look of knitted stuff, but honestly, I’m not the most patient person when it comes to hand-knitting. Too slow for me! So this machine is kind of a game-changer.
First off, I started by just playing around with the machine to see what it could do. I grabbed some yarn I had lying around – nothing fancy, just some basic worsted weight stuff – and followed the instructions that came with the machine. It’s pretty straightforward, you just thread the yarn, crank the handle, and boom, you’re knitting! I was honestly surprised at how fast it was. I made a couple of test swatches, you know, just to get the hang of it. The first one was a bit wonky, but I quickly figured out where I went wrong.
My Project
After those, I decided to try out these flower patterns I found. They looked pretty simple, and I figured they’d be a good way to practice before I moved on to bigger projects.
- I started by making the petals. The machine makes tubes, so you just knit a tube, then shape it into a petal. Easy peasy!
- Then I made the center of the flower. You can either knit another smaller tube or use a pom-pom maker, which is what I did. I’m all about shortcuts, haha.
- Once I had all the pieces, I just sewed them together. And voila! A cute little flower. I was pretty proud of myself, not gonna lie.
I ended up making a bunch of these flowers in different colors. They’re so quick to make, I just couldn’t stop! I think I’ll use them to decorate some hats and scarves I’m planning to make with the machine. It’s just so satisfying to see a project come together so quickly.
The Addi King-size is way better than those Sentro ones. I’ve used both, and the Addi is just smoother and sturdier. It can handle thicker yarns without complaining. And I know it’s gonna last me a long time, unlike some of those cheaper machines that break after a few uses.
The only thing that kind of sucks is that sometimes, if you find an old machine, it might be missing parts or the instruction manual. So if you’re buying used, make sure you get everything you need. Other than that, I’m really happy with this machine. It’s definitely opened up a whole new world of knitting possibilities for me!
Anyways, that’s my little knitting adventure for now. I’m still a beginner, but I’m having so much fun learning and experimenting. I’ll definitely keep you guys updated on my progress! Maybe I’ll even try to make a sweater next. Wish me luck!
