Oh, knitting machines, huh? Well, lemme tell ya somethin’ ‘bout these machines. Back in the day, we didn’t have all these fancy contraptions. Nope. But now, they got all kinds of ’em. Some folks call ‘em Jones, some Empisal, Knitmaster, Knit King, White, and even Singer. Different names, but they all do the same thing, you know, makin’ sweaters, scarves, and socks without breakin’ your back.
Now, these Empisal machines, they ain’t all the same everywhere. Nope, depends on where ya live. But they all come with the same setup – just one bed of needles. If you’re fancy, you can get another bed added. They call that a ribber. Sounds like somethin’ else, don’t it? But it’s just a way to do more complicated knittin’. Now, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ new, well, your choices are slim. There’s only one company left makin’ these domestic machines these days, and that’s Silver Reed. Yep, they’re still churnin’ ‘em out, all shiny and new.
Now, let’s talk about the kinds of knittin’ machines you might run into. There’s the big ones like the Addi Express King Size. This one’s a big ol’ machine with 48 needles, made outta plastic, and it’s black. I ain’t lyin’, it’s big. But it sure does the job. Pricey too, at about $255. But if ya wanna make somethin’ fast, this is the one to look at. It even comes with a pom-pom maker and a row counter, so ya don’t get lost countin’ all them stitches. Ain’t that somethin’?
Some folks might be wonderin’, “Why should I even bother with a knittin’ machine when I can do it all by hand?” Well, lemme tell ya, these machines save ya time, lots of it. And they’re good for people whose hands don’t work as fast as they used to. You got a lotta projects to do, or maybe you wanna start a little business, these machines help ya make more in less time.
Now, like I said, there’s all kinds of machines, but each one has its pros and cons. Some are easy to use, like the Addi I mentioned. You can get up and runnin’ with that thing real quick. But others might take a bit to learn, especially if they got all them extra attachments and needles. But once ya get the hang of it, you’ll be knittin’ up a storm in no time.
Durability is another thing. Some of these machines will last ya a lifetime if ya take care of ’em. Don’t go throwin’ ’em around or lettin’ ’em rust, though. Keep ‘em clean and oiled up, and they’ll keep workin’ for ya. That’s what I always say – take care of your tools, and your tools will take care of you.
Now, there’s smaller machines too, ones that are easier on the wallet and don’t take up so much space. If you’re just startin’ out or don’t need to knit a lotta things at once, maybe look at them. They ain’t got all the bells and whistles, but they get the job done. Simple is sometimes better, you know?
So, if you’re thinkin’ ‘bout gettin’ yourself one of these knittin’ machines, you gotta decide what works best for ya. If you’re like me and just wanna keep it simple, go with somethin’ easy to use. But if you’re feelin’ adventurous, maybe go for somethin’ bigger with more features. Just remember, it’s all about what you wanna make and how much time you got. Either way, these machines sure do make knittin’ a whole lot easier.
Happy knittin’!
