Okay, so I finally got my hands on that Addi knitting machine everyone’s been talking about. I’ve been itching to try it out, and what better project than a nice, cozy blanket? I’ve always wanted to make one, but knitting by hand just takes forever, you know?
Getting Started
First off, I unboxed this thing. It’s pretty neat looking – kind of like a giant, circular contraption. I followed the instructions and set it up on my table. It was pretty straightforward, thankfully. No complicated stuff.
Yarn Selection
Next, I had to pick out some yarn. I went with a chunky, soft acrylic yarn in a lovely shade of grey. I just thought it would be perfect for a comfy blanket. I wound the yarn onto the little holders that came with the machine, making sure it was all nice and smooth. This part took a little patience, but it was pretty satisfying to see it all organized.
Cranking Away
Now for the fun part! I started turning the crank on the side of the machine. It was a bit awkward at first, but I quickly got the hang of it. The needles started moving, and the yarn started feeding through. I watched in amazement as the rows of knitted fabric started appearing. It was like magic!
Dealing with some Dropped Stitches
Of course, it wasn’t all smooth sailing. I did have a few dropped stitches here and there. I stopped the machine, carefully picked up the dropped stitches with a crochet hook, and got back to cranking. It was a bit of a learning curve, but nothing too frustrating. And, it’s all part of the learning, right?
Finishing Touches
After what felt like no time at all, I had a decent-sized panel of knitted fabric. I cast off the stitches, following the instructions again. Then, I started on the next panel. I made a total of five panels, each about the same size. And the machine did most of the work for me, so cool!
Finally, I seamed all the panels together using a simple mattress stitch. This was probably the most time-consuming part, but it was worth it to see the blanket taking shape. I added a simple border around the whole thing, just to give it a nice, finished look.
The Final Result
And there you have it! My very own handmade (well, machine-made, but you know what I mean) blanket! It’s so soft and cozy, and I’m so proud of myself for making it. It is far from perfect, but it’s mine. The Addi knitting machine definitely made the process a lot easier and faster. I’m already thinking about what I want to make next! Maybe a scarf? Or a hat? The possibilities are endless!
- The process was quite fun and efficient.
- The blanket was made with my love.
- I will make another scarf next time.
Hope you guys enjoy my sharing. I will keep doing some interesting projects. See you next time!
