Okay, so, I got this thing called an Addi knitting machine. I saw some people online making cool stuff with it, and I thought, “Why not give it a shot?” I’m not really a knitting person, you know? Needles and yarn and all that stuff just isn’t my thing. But this machine looked kind of fun.
I got the Addi Express, which is like a medium-sized one, I guess. They have bigger ones, too. I figured this would be a good one to start with. Once it arrived, I took it out of the box, and honestly, I was a bit lost at first. There are all these little hooks and a handle, and it comes with some yarn, but I just used my own.
I watched a bunch of videos online, which were mostly made by people with their own. Those videos helped a lot to figure out how to get the yarn onto the machine. It’s called “casting on,” I learned. You have to wrap the yarn around these hooks in a special way, and then you start turning the handle.
It took me a few tries to get it right. Sometimes the yarn would slip off, or it would get all tangled. I even had to use a small tool that came in the box. It is used to adjust the thread and it’s really useful. But I kept at it, and eventually, I got the hang of it. Once you get into a rhythm, it’s actually pretty easy. You just keep turning the handle, and the machine knits the yarn into a tube.
My first project was just a simple tube, nothing fancy. I tried to make a Bon-Fire Beanie, following the video’s instructions. I watched them carefully, trying to replicate the guy’s movements, but it was not easy at first.
- First, you have to knit a long tube.
- Then, you have to take it off the machine, which is another whole process. You have to be careful not to drop any stitches.
- And finally, you have to sew the ends together to make it into a hat.
It wasn’t perfect, but I was pretty proud of myself! It’s basically just a longer tube, but you can do some cool stuff with different colors and textures. I made one with this fuzzy yarn that’s so soft.
I’ve made a few other things since then, like a scarf and a little blanket for my cat. It’s fun to experiment with different types of yarn and see what the machine can do. I’m still learning, but it’s a fun hobby, and it’s kind of cool to be able to make something with your own hands, even if it’s with a machine.

Actually many things! It depends on which machine you have, for example, I have the medium-sized one, but there is a bigger one! The Addi Express Knitting Machine King Size! Maybe I will try that one later.
