Well, let me tell ya ’bout this here addi Express King Knitting Machine. I ain’t no fancy knitter, you know, just an old woman who likes to make things. My hands ain’t what they used to be, all stiff and achy, so this here machine, it’s a godsend, I tell ya.
First off, they got two kinds, see? One they call the “addi Express,” that’s the small one, got fewer needles. Then there’s this big fella, the addi King Size. That’s the one I got, the King. Why? Cause it can do more, I reckon. More needles, bigger stuff. Makes sense, right?
Now, some folks, they go and buy them other machines, the Sentro and such. They’re cheaper, sure, but they ain’t built to last, I hear. This addi King, it’s sturdy, like a good ol’ tractor. You can use thicker yarn with it too, that’s what the young’ins told me to say, “heavier yarn weights” I think they called it. I don’t know what that means, thicker yarn is thicker yarn, period.
- It knits real fast, too. Faster than my old hands ever could.
- You just crank that handle, and it spits out the knitting like magic.
- Now, I ain’t sayin’ it’s gonna make you a fancy sweater overnight, but it’ll get you started.
What can you make with it? All sorts of things! Hats, scarves, even blankets. I made a nice little blanket for my grandbaby last winter. Kept him warm as a bug in a rug, he did. You can make them round things, like tubes, or flat things, like a piece of cloth. It’s all in how you crank that handle, see? My daughter-in-law, she showed me how to make these fancy little flowers with it. I stick ’em on hats and bags. Makes ’em look pretty, I think.
It ain’t hard to use, neither. Even an old woman like me can figure it out. Comes with a little book, tells you what to do. And there’s plenty of videos online, if you’re into that sort of thing. My grandson, he showed me a few. Those young folks, they know everything about them computers and such.
I’ve had this machine for a good while now, and it’s held up real good. I use it most days, making something or other. It’s kinda soothing, you know? Just sitting there, cranking away, watching the yarn turn into something useful. It keeps my hands busy and my mind occupied. Better than just sitting around, watching the TV all day, I reckon.
Now, it ain’t perfect, mind you. Sometimes the yarn gets tangled, or a stitch drops. But that happens with any kind of knitting, even if you’re doing it by hand. You just gotta learn to fix it, that’s all. And it makes a bit of a noise, this machine does. A sort of clicking and whirring sound. But it ain’t too bad, you get used to it. My old man, he says it sounds like a sewing machine on steroids. He’s a funny one, that old man.
So, if you’re lookin’ for a good knitting machine, and you don’t mind spendin’ a bit more for somethin’ that’ll last, I’d say go for the addi King. It’s a good machine, it is. It’ll keep you busy and warm, and you can make all sorts of nice things for yourself and your family. And that’s what matters, ain’t it? Making things, and keeping busy, and making people happy. That’s what life’s all about, far as I can see.
One more thing, if you’re not sure if you’ll like it, maybe try to borrow one from a friend or neighbor first. I didn’t have that choice, but you young’uns have it easier now with all this newfangled stuff.
